Machine Work by Hopie-chan Machine Work by Hopie-chan
Here's the short version behind this shoot. I was contacted by a photog on Model Mayhem about doing something "Victorian" for him, then we decided on trying something Steampunk. Well, with the amazing friends that I have *cough*CELESTIALROGUES*cough*, I asked Whitney and Will if they'd have anything they'd let me borrow for photos! From there, they asked Jesse if we could borrow some of her AMAZING clothes that she made for her fashion stuff! And can I just say, wearing these two coats felt like I was wearing legit articles of clothing... they were sooooo perfectly executed!

WELL. Homedude had to cancel because his strobes broke, BUT this was a blessing in disguise! We all still wanted to do the photos, so I asked Julia if she'd take the photos and she was down!!!

We went to Varner Hogg, a historical location near my hometown, and I gotta say this was a really awesome shoot to do. Stay tuned, these are great!!

(Okay. So technically, this shot is in my backyard. After the 2nd photoshoot, I remembered that I had really wanted a shot that looked like soot on my face but with the goggle indentions still there. So Julia "blew" on some black makeup powder on real quick and there you have it!)

I love the dirt on your face! Amazingly authentic. There are so many "steampunk" photo shoots that lack this sort of artistic realism. Great job.

It looks great! Only thing I would have done would have been more of the "soot" on the face, either lower or just more concentrated. OR (and work with me here) make it look like you had oil/grease stains on your face (say, as if working on an engine or some sort of tinker-devicey-mabob).

But that's just me. I have a thing for gearheads/grease monkeys/techy-steampunk type womenz.

But all in all, you still look great. Always enjoy seeing what you come up with!

I love the fact that you used soot (or simulated soot) in this shot because all too often models are so done up they look fake. So I like the realism in this shot.
